French luxury fashion house Maison Margiela has continued its collaboration with Boston-based accessible sportswear giant Reebok for four new iterations of its classic silhouettes as part of the ‘Memory Of’ collection. The dynamic duo has always brought something unique to their previously released Classic Leather Tabi sneakers or newly released Memory Of footwear collection.
Under the Memory Of collection, the brands present two fresh interpretations of the Club C V2 and Classic Leather V2 silhouettes. Comprised of four iterations of two silhouettes, the collaborative collection was launched on September 30, 2022 on Maison Margiela’s official e-commerce site and physical stores.

A crossover between sportswear brands and luxury houses is one of the best marketing techniques to grab the attention of consumers from different markets and a perfect way to stay relevant in this space. The same could be why Margiela and Reebok continue to team up for footwear collections.
The second team of the two, which was first introduced in spring/summer 2022, graces the second version of Club C and Classic Leather. The latest collection, dubbed Memory Of, demonstrates a further exploration of the techniques seen in the original designs, pushing the boundaries of deconstruction within the framework of fidelity and recognisability.
Similar to previously launched projects, Maison Margiela creative director John Galliano borrows the concepts of deconstruction for this four-piece collaborative collection. Each sneaker in the collection will be available in Triple Black and Triple White.
The official website featured the collaborative collection, saying:
“For the latest chapter in the ongoing collaboration, a range of Reebok classics are interpreted through the Maison’s signature concept, The Memory Of. The technique evokes familiar elements through the deconstruction of garments and accessories.”
The site goes on to talk about the details and concepts behind the project, explaining:
“It is the visual memory of an object or feeling no longer materially visible but tangible by an outline or a hint: the memory of something that once was.”
Even if you may not notice many visual differences at first glance, sneakerheads and brand lovers will immediately recognize the difference between the two silhouettes.
Both the classic Club C and Classic Leather silhouettes appear as if someone has dragged a utility knife across the base layer of the upper. The cut out pieces reveal semi-sheer nylon fabrics as well as the safety stitching placed on the interiors.
The Triple Black colorway features a contrasting semi-translucent off-white base, while the Triple Black colorway remains neutral. The upper of both silhouettes is made of calfskin and the inner lining is made of polyester. The sole units of the shoes are made of rubber as usual.
Through the use of staplers, scissors and knives, the shoe’s original layer is removed, effectively reducing the sneakers to the “memory of” their original design.
All four sneakers from the Maison Margiela x Reebok Memory Of collection are available through Maison Margiela’s official e-commerce site with a retail price of $675.
