USPS mail carrier robbed at gunpoint in Melrose, Massachusetts

Authorities are searching for two men who robbed a U.S. Postal Service employee at gunpoint in Melrose, Massachusetts. The U.S. Postal Inspection Service said a USPS letter carrier was delivering mail in the Orchard Lane area when he was approached by two armed suspects around 3 p.m. Saturday evening. According to USPIS, the suspects brandished weapons and robbed the mail carrier before fleeing on foot. “She’s very nice, very friendly. Sometimes when she comes to the door, she treats the dog.” The neighborhood that was robbed. “She’s been our driver for several years. I see her every day. I hear she’s about two weeks away from retirement. The case is being investigated by the USPS and the Melrose Police Department. The United States Postal Inspection Service takes the safety of USPS employees seriously.” The suspects are walking towards the crime scene and another video clip shows them running away from the crime scene. A reward of up to $50,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect in the case. According to USPIS, the suspects brandished weapons and robbed the mail carrier before fleeing on foot.

“She’s very nice, very friendly. Sometimes she feeds the dog when she comes to the door,” said a man who lives in the neighborhood. “She’s been our driver for a few years now. I see her every day. I heard she’s about two weeks away from retirement.”

Armed robbery of a USPS employee is a federal crime and is punishable by up to 25 years in prison.

“This case is being investigated by the United States Postal Inspection Service and the Melrose Police Department. The United States Postal Inspection Service takes the safety of USPS employees very seriously,” read a statement from USPIS.

Investigators shared a video clip from a home security camera showing the suspects walking to the crime scene and another video clip showing them fleeing the crime scene.
