Sun Life and the Royals celebrate 5 years of #StrikeoutDiabetes campaign; raise $50,000 for Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City

WELLESLEY, Mass. and KANSAS CITY, MON, September 22, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — As the Royals near the end of baseball season, Royals Charities and Sun Life have completed the fifth annual #StrikeoutDiabetes campaign, raising money to support diabetes prevention initiatives with Boys & Girls Clubs Greater Kansas City. For every royal strike, Sun Life and the royals donate $23that in the US a diabetes diagnosis every 23 seconds with great performances from the hill, especially from Brady Singer and Daniel LynchRoyals pitching more than raised $24,000. In recognition of the program’s fifth year, Sun Life increased the donation $50,000.

On the field last night at the game against the Minnesota Twins, Sun Life and the Royals presented a huge check for $50,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City.

Since Sun Life began partnering with the Royals, #StrikeoutDiabetes has increased $350,000 for local organizations. Sun Life also offers the annual Team Up Against Diabetes grant program, which supports diabetes prevention, nutritional access, and health programs that focus on underserved communities of color—populations disproportionately affected by diabetes.
