This week marks the start of the last full month of the regular volleyball season. The boards have started to settle down with the postseason on the horizon. Here are the latest reviews from Nate Thomas.

class a

Comments: Lincoln Southwest’s Allison Weston Invite title – and a win over Papillion-La Vista South – keeps it at the top. Omaha Westside makes a big leap after finishing third in this tournament. Papillion-La Vista also moves up one spot after a solid week. Class A is getting more chaotic by the day.

key games: Tuesday — Lincoln Southeast on Grand Island. Thursday — Lincoln Southwest at Millard West. Friday – Lincoln Northeast Invitational. Saturday – Lincoln Northeast Invitational.

Class B

Competitors: Alliance, Crete, Scottsbluff, Omaha Duchesne, Hastings.

Comments: Bennington makes the most notable move of the week after a great week in which he defeated three opponents on the leaderboard. The Badgers’ three-set win over Waverly on Saturday was key. The Vikings, outside of defeat, were also stable, defeating GI Northwest and Kearney Catholic. The first Elkhorn North-Norris matchup of the season lived up to expectations.

key games: Tuesday — York at Crete, Adams Central at GI Northwest, Scottsbluff at Sidney. Thursday — York at Seward. Friday – Twin City Invitation. Saturday – Twin City Invitation.

Class C-1

8. Catholic Kearney;14-4;4

Competitors: Ogallala, Bishop Neumann, DC West, Yutan.

Comments: Another week, another packed C-1 action to shake things up. Gothenburg ended Minden’s unbeaten season and Grand Island Central Catholic also defeated the Whippets on Saturday. Malcolm is the biggest mover in the positive direction after seven wins, including a trio of them against rated teams. Kearney Catholic fell in the loaded class this week after back-to-back losses.

key games: Tuesday — Columbus Scotus in Columbus Lakeview, Grand Island Central Catholic in Kearney Catholic. Thursday — North Bend Central at Malcolm, Minden at Centura. Saturday — Columbus Classic.

Class C-2

1. Lincoln Lutheran;19-0;1

3. Archbishop Bergan;17-3;2

10.Cross County;12-1;—

Competitors: Southwest, Palmyra, Freeman, Thayer Central.

Comments: Lincoln Lutheran continues to dominate his competition after beating then No. 2 Archbishop Bergan last week. The Knights make another switch with Oakland-Craig after also losing a match to St. Paul over the weekend. Sutton takes a leap after avenging a loss to Hastings St Cecilia. Cross County enters the standings for the first time this season.

key games: Tuesday – Palmyra at Elmwood-Murdock, Archbishop Bergan at Clarkson-Leigh, Freeman at Falls City SH. Thursday — Amherst at Loomis, south-west at Overton, Freeman at Palmyra. Saturday – Clarkson-Leigh invitation.

Class D-1

1. Maywood-Hayes Center;14-0;1

2. Norfolk Catholic;12-1;2

5. Nebraska Christian;18-4;5

7. Hartington CC;14-6;—

Competitors: Loomis, Elmwood-Murdock, SEM, Elgin/PJ, Johnson-Brock.

Comments: Welcome, Hartington Cedar Catholic and Meridian. The Trojans have started to heat up and are now winning six games in a row. All have competed against Class C teams, including two in the standings. The Mustangs are entering the fray for the first time this season following a win over BDS. Class D-1 gets deeper week by week.

key games: Tuesday – Johnson-Brock in Diller-Odell, SEM in Medicine Valley, Maywood-Hayes Center in Wallace. Thursday – Diller-Odell at Meridian, Overton at Alma, Nebraska Christian at Humphrey SF. Saturday – Maywood-Hayes Center v Cambridge

Class D-2

Competitors: Paxton, Medicine Valley, Potter-Dix.

Comments: Diller-Odell is this week’s biggest move after winning seven games in six days. His greatest success was a win over Falls City Sacred Heart, which brought an Irish winning streak of eight games. Overton and Howells-Dodge continue to pull away from the rest of the class.

key games: Tuesday — Shelton in Overton. Thursday – Paxton in Medicine Valley, Overton in Alma.
