Gaming is probably one of the most popular pastimes in the world and hardly a week goes by without another tech hitting the market that promises to give you the competitive edge you need to win. And at a time when gamers are using PCs, gaming consoles and portable gaming platforms like the Nintendo Switch, having the leading technology is imperative. Logitech’s new Astro A30 headset is designed to work with them all.
This latest piece of gaming technology blends fashion and function in one versatile headset, available in PlayStation or Xbox variants. Designed for all platforms, the Astro A30 even offers customizable speaker tags, just like the popular A40 model. Gamers can customize controls and connect to up to three devices with the Logitech G mobile app, allowing gamers to create their ideal gaming experience across platforms.
The Astro A30 combines Logitech’s reputation for convenience and flexibility with the latest gaming performance features, including optimization for simultaneous multi-device connectivity and custom mixing. The Astro A30 works with PlayStation4, PlayStation5, Xbox One, XB Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PCs, macOS, iOS and Android.
Thanks to Logitech’s LIGHTSPEED wireless technology, the A30 connects quickly and reliably. Both the PlayStation and Xbox versions come with their own LIGHTSPEED USB dongle. For games running on both consoles, Logitech sells special LIGHTSPEED dongles separately, along with replacement ear pads, detachable microphones, and cables.
The speakers used in the A30 are 40mm dynamic drivers that offer big sound and plenty of clarity. An on-ear joystick control allows gamers to mute, shuffle, adjust volume, play, pause, and more. The audio and gaming experience can be customized on the go with the Logitech G Mobile app, available for iOS and Android.
More than one device can be used at the same time thanks to the professional LIGHTSPEED Wireless 2.4GHz dongle that can connect to a PC, Mac, PlayStation4, PlayStation5, Xbox One, XB Series X|S. There’s built-in Bluetooth for portable gaming devices, as well as an old-school 3.5mm aux cable for everything else.
Players can choose to use the Astro 30’s detachable boom mic or the integrated version. There is sidetone for both microphones and the level adjustment can be applied to both microphones. Each microphone offers clear sound, with the microphone arm ensuring maximum focus, while the built-in microphone makes the headset look more elegant.
A single charge of the headset provides more than 27 hours of battery life for wireless use on all platforms and offers at least a couple of days of gaming. When it’s time to charge, the Astro 30 will soon be fully charged via a USB-C charging port. And thanks to a built-in accelerometer, the A30 headset will turn itself off if no motion is detected after 30 minutes. This amount of time can be adjusted using the Logitech G Mobile App.
As well as being a wireless headset, the A30 can also be used as a wired model even when the internal batteries are completely drained. By simply attaching the external boom microphone and connecting the headset to any device with a 3.5mm jack, gaming can continue.
The Astro 30 ships on October 4th and is available in white and navy blue. Gamers can also personalize their headsets with interchangeable custom speaker tags, and the tag fit is the same as that used on the Logitech A40 headset. There is also a curated collection of tags to purchase or users can create custom designs with personal graphics.
The Astro A30 features pivoting earcups, allowing the headset to lie flat when worn around the neck or stored in the included hard case. The design is intended to be shown in public, during streams or as part of a battle station.
Conclusion: The Logitech Astro A30 wireless gaming headset offers all the connectivity options and features that a gamer could wish for. The choice of two microphones is handy and the sound quality from the 40mm drivers is great, even when listening to Hi-Res music. With the Astro A30, Logitech has created an incredibly versatile wireless headset that gives gamers the edge.
