Kia Singapore Launches All-New Niro Hybrid

Packed with improvements, the Kia Niro Hybrid reinforces the brand’s commitment to sustainability and makes it easier for customers to take a small step towards reducing their carbon footprint

SINGAPORE, September 23, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Cycle & Carriage today introduced its latest Niro Hybrid, a redesigned version of the original with a host of design and material changes designed to make the driving experience more enjoyable and sustainable.

The new Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) is another milestone in Kia’s journey to becoming a provider of sustainable mobility solutions.

“We are delighted to welcome the second generation Kia Niro Hybrid to our extensive range. This latest addition reflects Kia’s commitment to creating world-class sustainable mobility solutions that offer our customers an amazing driving experience while caring for the good of the planet.” said Dawn PanDirector of Multi-Franchise Operations, Cycle & Carriage Singapore.

“The first Niro Hybrid was very popular with customers because it offered them the best of both worlds. I envision this new model being an even bigger hit due to the improvements in design, powertrain, connectivity and safety.”

Those driving the new Niro Hybrid will appreciate the wealth of new technologies that make the user experience seamless. The touchscreen size has increased from 8 inches in the previous generation to the current 10.25 inches. The displayed intuitive graphics and touch commands also make operating the vehicle easier than before.

Dashboard clutter has been reduced by combining multimedia and climate control options on the same touchpad. Users simply need to press the fan/arrow button to switch between the two sets of controls.

Like Kia’s other smart cars, the new Niro Hybrid features the Kia Connect Lite service, which allows users to remotely control their vehicle, check vehicle status and diagnostics, and book their next maintenance session.

Other quality-of-life additions include a Smart Power tailgate, USB charging ports for all occupants, and Shift By Wire electric dial replacing the traditional joystick gear.

The visual differences between the latest Niro Hybrid and its predecessor are obvious at first glance. The new model exudes a bolder, more futuristic look that stems from its clean character lines and Aero C-pillar, a distinctive shape inspired by the 2019 HabaNiro concept car, making the car more aerodynamic and efficient.

Inside, the first thing that catches the eye is the sleek off-centre dashboard, which features the new 10.25-inch Panoramic Curved Supervision Cluster Display, which offers convenient and intuitive access to driving functions, navigation and infotainment options.

Another major difference is the seats. The in the new Niro Hybrid combine optimal strength with padding and contouring to prevent fatigue from long rides. The ventilated and heated seats allow you to have a more comfortable driving experience. The seats are not only more stylish and comfortable than before, but also slimmer, allowing for more headroom and legroom in the vehicle, adjustable through the integrated memory system.

The upgrades are not only easy on the eyes, but also on the environment. For example, the seats are made from vegan leather from eucalyptus trees, 56% of the headlining is made from recycled plastic and recycled fibers make up 75% of the multipurpose tonneau cover. The interior door panels of the car are coated with BTX-free paint that does not contain benzene, toluene and xylene.

The new Niro Hybrid is powered by a 1.6-litre Smartstream engine that produces a maximum power of 130 hp at 5,500 rpm and offers a smoother ride and better acceleration compared to its predecessor’s Kappa engine.

Although larger than the first-generation Niro Hybrid, the new model is no less eco-friendly and offers excellent fuel efficiency, using just four liters per 100 kilometers.

In terms of emissions, the new Niro Hybrid produces just 91 grams of CO2 per kilometer and falls under the VES band A2, so customers can enjoy that $15,000 Deduction.

One of the new offerings that sets the second-generation Niro Hybrid apart from the competition in its class is its Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), which significantly improves safety in all aspects of driving.

Capabilities of this new system include Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, which warns drivers of potential collisions with other vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists. Blind Spot Collision Avoidance Assist, which warns when it detects a risk of collision with a vehicle behind.

When driving on the motorway, the Smart Cruise Control function helps to relieve the driver somewhat by helping the car to keep the distance to the vehicle in front. Should the vehicle in front come to a standstill, the intelligent system automatically instructs the Niro Hybrid to stop safely.

When the vehicle is put into Park mode, Rear Traffic Alert warns the driver of an approaching vehicle when reversing and applies the brakes if necessary. Safe Exit Assist issues an audible warning and prevents potential collisions with a vehicle behind if an occupant opens the door to exit the vehicle.

This second-generation crossover is available in eight colors and two specifications – the premium SX line for drivers who demand advanced technological comfort, and the EX line for budget-conscious users who focus more on efficiency and spaciousness.
