International Family Medicine Concludes, Sets Grand Stage for IFM 2023

2,500 healthcare professionals and visitors, 50 expert speakers, 40 scientific sessions

Dubai, United Arab Emirates: The International Family Medicine Conference and Exhibition – IFM, which was held from October 25 to 27, set a high-note and focus on the future of family medicine for the coming year. H Awad Sagir Al Ketbi, Director General of Dubai Health Authority, officially opened the event, as the UAE follows through on its commitment to fully support the healthcare sector.

More than 2,500 healthcare professionals and visitors attended the three-day course where 50 expert speakers delivered 40 scientific sessions. IFM also featured 30 participating countries, more than 40 brand exhibits across exhibition halls and 25 poster presentations highlighting ground-breaking scientific research.

Pioneering studies were a major highlight at IFM 2022 as poster presentations revealed insightful research from both professionals and students, allowing everyone to engage in meaningful conversations.

Conferences such as IFM contribute to improving health by advancing family medicine concepts that include health promotion, prevention strategies and guidelines, curative programs, promoting equity in access to health and medical services, and providing effective health programs to the community. Many of the leading global healthcare organizations in the UAE attended and 85% of general and family medicine practitioners from Dubai also attended, demonstrating that UAE healthcare professionals place family medicine as a top priority.

Dr. Ibtesam Al Bastaki, Conference Chairperson of IFM 2022, Said: “This edition of International Family Medicine has been an amazing year, as we have witnessed participation from all over the world. The conference agenda addresses a variety of topics focusing on cardio metabolic diseases, mental health, neurology, rehabilitation and sports medicine, all of which have . a great influence on family physicians in their daily practice. We have put a lot of focus on mental health in particular this year because we see it as a larger problem facing all levels of the population from teenagers to adults and expert doctors discuss these issues. International Family Medicine aims to promote and maintain best ethics and high-quality standards in the primary health care system through continuing education and informative discussions. The exhibition showcases innovative healthcare solutions and live demonstrations of the most advanced medicines and technologies to date.

Family medicine plays an important role in providing direct and continuous care to an individual and their family. Unlike other specialties that are limited to a specific organ or disease, family physicians are the only specialists qualified to treat most ailments and address the most pressing and common medical needs of patients regardless of age or gender. They practice a variety of medical subjects and specialties rather than focusing on a specific medical field.

The next edition of the International Family Medicine Conference and Exhibition will be held from October 31 to November 2.n.d, 2023.
