Jenny Patterson is excited to bring her business to life, and in January the first business in the multi-million dollar downtown Port Huron development is opening.
BG Salon is co-owned by Patterson and her mother, Beau Lasky. Their salon is expected to be the first business to open in Wrigley Center, pending contractors and construction timelines.
The business will have stations for all hair salon essentials, such as hair coloring, cuts and treatments.
“It’s really exciting to be the first (business) here,” Patterson said. “I’m excited to see how it all develops.”
Patterson said they want to hold the salon’s grand opening on Jan. 16. The salon is currently located at 808 Lapeer Ave. in Port Huron.
Patterson has owned the business since 1998. She started with The Body Boutique, which focused on massage, facials and waxing services. In 2007, she changed the business name to Be Je Salon and shifted her focus to hair care. She said she chose Wrigley Center as the new location because she thought it would be perfect for the salon.

“I travel to teach hair color and I’ve been to a lot of salons that were built like Wrigley’s,” Patterson said. “I knew it was an opportunity I wanted to take.”
Be Je Salon will bring back its body treatment services when it opens in a new location.
The salon at Wrigley Center will have 10 hair stations each with its own stylist. Currently, seven stylists have been confirmed to work at the salon.
All equipment will be brand new and will include six fully equipped hair washing stations, ceiling-mounted blow dryers, three color processors, three sit-in hair dryers, a color bar and two body treatment rooms.
Patterson’s goal is not to have a gap between closing his current location and opening a new one.
“We plan to finish our last customer at the Lapeer location on Jan. 14, move everything over the weekend and then open on Monday,” Patterson said. Patterson said.
Patterson and Lasky wanted to make sure they stayed local in opening their new location, working with Mortimer Lumber, Martin Construction, Independent Flooring, Countertop Direct, Ensure Electric, Superior Heating & Cooling, Zea Painting and Master Plumbing Inc. does
Patterson and Lasky were born and raised in Port Huron. Patterson said he wants to help build a sustainable city for generations to come.
All stylists at BG Salon will be independent. Patterson said he thinks of himself as a leader rather than a boss. She sees her stylists as partners, and she wants to do what’s best for them. Lasky said her daughter is easy to work with and a reliable business owner.
“She is loyal to the people who work for her, and she does what’s best for them and the business,” Lasky said.
Patterson said she wants to create an environment where her clients can relax and disconnect from the outside world.
