A clinical study published in European Journal of Medical and Pharmacological Sciences investigated the role of Taiyo’s Sunfiber Prebiotic (PHGG) ingredient in reducing cold symptoms. That Placebo-controlled, double-blind, randomized 12-week study in 96 healthy adults showed the prebiotic’s connection to gut and immune health. Participants received 5.2 g of Sunfiber or a placebo. Diaries of cold-like symptoms were kept, and levels of stool short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) and blood immune markers were measured at baseline and again at weeks 6 and 12. The Sunfiber group had statistically significantly more cold symptom-free days, significant reductions in most common cold symptoms, general malaise, arthralgia, and chills, and reductions in constipation or diarrhea.

TriNutra announced approval of its US patent demonstrating the synergistic effects of thymoquinone and omega-3 fatty acids for a healthy inflammatory response. The U.S. patent protects TriNutra’s orally administrable product, ThymoQuin, which contains thymoquinone (TQ) from black seed oil (BSO) and thymoquinone from other resources, as well as omega-3 in various forms such as various blends of EPA and DHA in at least a 1:7 Relationship. The synergistic effects were tested in a preclinical study. Additionally, a recent human study suggests that the combination supports the immune system and general well-being. The combination has also shown support for a healthy microbiome. ThymoQuin is the first cold-pressed and standardized full-spectrum BSO with 3% TQ and very low free fatty acids (FFA).
