CAIRO – October 22, 2022: The 2022 Egyptian Economic Conference will begin on Sunday at the Al-Massa Hotel in the New Administrative Capital to discuss the situation and future of Egypt’s economy amid consecutive economic crises around the world.
The Economic Conference, which takes place from October 23 to 25, is organized by the government with the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the participation of a large number of economic experts and intellectuals, the Cabinet said in a statement on Saturday.
Define economic policies
The first day of the three-day conference will discuss various issues related to economic policy and seek to discuss expert views and ideas on the economic policies needed given current national priorities under the Egypt 2030 Vision.
The first day of the conference will discuss a series of axes represented in the consecutive economic crises facing the global economy and their local and international impact, the statement said.
The first day will also be concerned with discussing the changes in economic structure and economic growth in the last three decades, given the need to achieve an economic structure that achieves sustainable development.
Strengthening the role of the private sector
The sessions will also discuss the need to provide adequate employment opportunities for young people and develop the contribution of the private sector to the economy, the statement said.
The sessions should result in the formulation of policies and visions that contribute to achieving comprehensive and sustainable rates of economic growth amid the current challenges posed by current global and regional circumstances.
The sessions also seek to identify policies and mechanisms that should be put in place to enhance the role of the private sector, which is an effective partner in sustainable development efforts, in achieving growth and operation goals.
Advancement of public investments
During the sessions, the government will be informed about the views of participants and experts on the importance of advancing public investments aimed at infrastructure development, which is favorable to the business environment and the quality of life of citizens.
The sessions also seek to discuss views and proposals on public spending priorities, the statement added.
Participants on the first day will address monetary policies in light of global developments, as well as the characteristics and dimensions of the current problem of global inflation and the repercussions of the Russia-Ukraine crisis on the exacerbation of inflation around the world.
In addition, participants will discuss the policies and measures adopted by monetary policymakers around the world to contain inflation.
Sessions will have discussions on the impact of rising interest rates in developed markets on the situation in emerging markets. Participants will also address the efforts and measures taken by the Egyptian State to limit the effects and repercussions of rising prices.

Earlier this month, the government launched a website and mobile application for the Economic Conference as part of its commitment to ensuring the participation of various stakeholders.
The government also launched a series of social media pages for the conference to provide all the information related to the conference moment by moment.
Earlier this month, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said the economic conference seeks to come up with a roadmap for the country’s economy over the next period.
At a press conference, it is estimated that between 400 and 500 people from local and international bodies will attend the conference.
The conference aims to develop clear policies and measures to increase the competitiveness and flexibility of the Egyptian economy, the Cabinet spokesperson said.
The conference agenda includes several sessions divided into three policy approaches, namely macroeconomic policies, private sector empowerment and creating a business environment, and formulating a future roadmap for priority sectors in the government’s programme, added the spokesperson. voice.
The economic conference will also be coordinated with the economic axis of the National Dialogue of Egypt, which seeks to reach commonalities between political and party forces on national priorities.
