It wouldn’t be an England game without football fans singing The Three Lions, but for the inaugural Winter World Cup they will be singing a more festive version.
Comedy duo David Baddiel and Frank Skinner reunite with The Lightning Seeds singer Ian Broudie to reimagine the 1996 hit, but this time as a Christmas carol, Three Lions On A Sleigh.
And they will change the lyrics to refer to our Euro winning lionesses
The gang are meeting up next month to film an updated video and are hoping to land a cameo from Sir Geoff Hurst, the 1966 England goalscorer.
The track is believed to be released shortly after the tournament begins on November 20 in hopes of becoming Christmas #1.
The famous song lyrics are updated to include many chrimbo puns.
A comedy source said: “The Three Lions track has become synonymous with football so the boys thought it would be really fun to get behind the inaugural Winter World Cup with a Christmas version.
“They grossed out the Lionesses massively on the new song and had a blast with some of the lyrics, which contain cheesy Christmas puns.”
Three Lions became the English anthem during the Euro 96 campaign and was re-recorded as the unofficial anthem for the 1998 World Cup.
Another version was produced in 2010 with Robbie Williams and Russell Brand.
In May, England legend Paul Gascoigne criticized the FA’s plans to abandon the Three Lions anthem, fearing their lyrics would offend other footballing nations.
But this new makeover of the song should ensure it remains the anthem of English fans.
After the way the Three Lions played against Italy on Friday, we hope this song will change their destiny. . .
PETER CROUCH, Maya Jama and Alex Horne will not be returning with their post-match football chat show during the World Cup.
A source said of Crouchy’s Year Late Euros: Live: “It was decided not to bring it back as it was poorly received.”
A BBC spokesman added: “It was commissioned specifically for the euro.”
storm in the cup
AVID football fan Stormzy jumped at the chance to be at the World Cup.
I can reveal that the grime artist is part of a lucrative Adidas ad campaign in which he plays a foot bus driver.
It comes as he prepares to release his long-awaited third album, which features collabs with rising talents J Hus, Potter Payper and Tendai.
I bet it’s a (Vossi) bopper.
Bella’s new look
GIGI HADID is so concerned about sneaking off on secret dates with Leonardo DiCaprio that she has taken to wearing costumes.
The supermodel wore a sexy Little Red Riding Hood outfit to the afterparty of the Versace show at Milan Fashion Week on Friday night.
Meanwhile, I’ve heard that actor Leo has taken a private plane to accompany her to the Italian city so they can spend some quality time together.
I just hope his head doesn’t get turned by younger models while he’s there. . .
CIAN DUCROT @ The Lafayette, London
THE intimate location was the perfect setting for Ducrot’s blend of raw lyricism and melancholy pop.
The Irish singer-songwriter displayed a light-hearted charm on his first sold-out UK headlining tour, as he introduced witty preludes to songs and snapped a fan’s photo for social media.
Highlights included a powerful cover of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah, which he performed in a novelty onesie, and a haunting unplugged singalong while seated on stage.
In a touching moment, he burst into tears on the last line of his breakout hit All For You.
By the end of the show, it was clear that Ducrot wears his heart on his sleeve.
He’s a refreshingly honest talent to cheer for.
Hollyoak’s Hunk Link to the Jungle
HOLLYOAKS fans have something special to look forward to as I can reveal that the handsome Owen Warner is lined up for I’m A Celebrity. . . Get me out of here!.
The actor, who has played Romeo Nightingale on the Channel 4 soap since 2018, will be heading Down Under this winter when the ITV show returns to Australia after two years in Wales.
Owen – a former love of Geordie Shores party animal Chloe Ferry – is no stranger to showing off his six-pack abs on social media, so he’s sure to be a hit in the famous waterfall shower in the jungle.
He can also reach out to Malique Thompson-Dwyer for tips since his Hollyoaks cast member was on the show in 2018.
A TV source said: “Owen is so excited to be in the mix. He has never done anything like this and it would take his profile to a new level.
“His abs are on point so he wouldn’t be shy about showing his physique.”
I’m curious who he might share camp with.
Lucie married and wild
LUCIE DONLAN looks like a jungle animal in this snap, but she wants an ocean-style wedding to fellow Love Islander Luke Mabbott.
Introducing her Ann Summers collection, she said, “We would love a wedding location like Hawaii or Bali.
“We want to honeymoon in an underwater hotel in Australia, but we want to be engaged for a few years.”
Time to start saving. . .
Mel: Spices up a pain
YOU pioneered girl power, but Mel C has admitted working with the Spice Girls can be “a pain in the ass” and “a double-edged sword.” Ouch.
Sporty Spice also revealed bandmate Victoria Beckham lacked confidence on stage when she opened up about the inner workings of the girl band at a talk earlier this month to promote her new book.
Mel, right, said: “I love working with the girls. Sometimes it’s a pain in the ass. But I love her very much.
“It’s a double-edged sword, but working with the Spice Girls is dynamic, like anyone with a group of friends, and you fit into that.
“And we created music that was collaborative, which we felt as a team, as a group of people that then moved on and was what I call very rampant.
“We played to our strengths. We know where everyone’s talents lie.”
When asked about her 2007 tour, which saw Posh walk the runway for her solo moment, Mel explained, “That’s all she had to do, but she can do so much more.
“There’s an element of her that doesn’t feel safe enough.”
New single Mel also dropped the biggest hint yet that the ’90s hitmakers are reuniting as their original five-piece to perform at Glastonbury next year.
She said: “I would 100 percent love to do it. I think that’s too big a gig for VB to keep busy tonight.”
Maybe Mel should change her nickname to Shouty Spice. . .

In a hastily arranged acoustic show, the Californian singer delivered a slew of rarely aired tunes from his extensive and varied discography.
The lucky few who crowded into this little club could see Beck in all his ragged, shabby-chic glory, blasting his harmonica and strumming an acoustic guitar for a stripped-down set.
He opened with The Golden Age and returned to Nitemare Hippy Girl and Truckdrivin Neighbors Downstairs from the 1994 breakout album Mellow Gold.
Ignoring the big hit Loser, he debuted the new song Ramona, amusing audiences with stories from his career.
Forgetting a verse here and there only added to a very enchanting close encounter with alt-rock royalty.
Daisy’s mom is so guilty
DAISY LOWE has scaled back modeling to focus on a television career, but her mother Pearl still feels guilty about the seedy photographers her daughter has encountered in the fashion world.
Daisy – who recently got engaged to real estate developer Jordan Saul – was discovered and became famous at the age of 15.
But her fashion designer mother revealed that Daisy confided in her about unsavory incidents when she was a young model.
Pearl said: “She has told me some stories about photographers trying to get her to undress or hit on her.
“Daisy was also very sexual at that age. Daisy has always been very comfortable with her body.
“She took off her clothes and didn’t care, so I think sometimes they got the wrong message.
“I recently saw a program about French modeling agencies and it really freaked me out because I knew some of the models there. It was so dark.
“You’re just like, ‘God, I’m letting my daughter go into this field.’ And it’s just terrible.
“I don’t think Daisy actually told me at the time, but recently she was like, ‘Oh my god, that happened. . . ‘
“But she is very strong.”
I hope things finally change for young models.
