Notable achievements in 2021 highlighted in the report include:

  • establishment of an ESG committee in the board of directors;

  • invested 25 million dollars in energy and water efficiency improvements;

  • 18% to meet short-term corporate goal of energy intensity per unit of production in collagen/gelatin business;

  • Produced 372 million gallons of renewable diesel, on track to produce more than 750 million gallons by 2022;

  • Reducing global water intensity by 1.8%, bringing the company 36% of its 2025 target; and

  • About half of the Darling properties in areas of water stress returned 47% more water to the environment than they use.

The report aligns with the core standard of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and maps the progress of Darling Ingredients to indicators defined by the key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
