Blu Atlas Review: What Makes This Men’s Skincare Brand Stand Out

Before we get to the Blu Atlas review, I’ll just tell you straight: I was a soap-slapping guy until recently. In the periods of my life where I’ve shared living spaces with women, the shower and bathroom counters are typically 90% hers and 10% his. I thought minimalism was the key.

It’s less about minimalism and more about efficiency, if I’m being honest. It’s not that I don’t care about my skin and my looks, I just want to get out.

As I get older and notice that my skin is getting a little weather-beaten (one sunburn too many in the summer and maybe a little too much dehydration as we come out of the summer months), I think it might be time to invest in one little more in a good skin care routine.

Introducing a fall skincare routine for men with Blu Atlas

That being said, a quick Google search for men’s skincare products will turn up results across the board, which can be beyond confusing for a beginner (or someone throwing away their cheap grocery-brand bar of soap). In short, it’s hard to look for healthy routines when most mainstream products are mixed with unnecessary and potentially harmful chemicals.

This is where Blu Atlas comes in. When I had the chance to check out their full-spectrum personal care line, I did a little research before opening a package.

The biggest benefit is that the company sources over 96% of its ingredients from natural sources. Whoa! With top-flight reviews on their website from major male-centric publications alongside sleek branding and a sleek brand feel, I’m happy to say I was excited to try them before I even touched the product. But despite my excitement, I’m still dealing with the reality that I know little to nothing about what makes good skincare versus an alternative.

Luckily I have some help. My girlfriend is recent and proud of esthetician school (which I’ve been told is more than just pimple popping videos) and is dying to continue her new career of helping people find solutions to unhappy skin find and develop preventative methods to keep things looking great and feeling healthy.

I asked them to sit down with me and go through the Blu Atlas line (every product for sale on their website, in fact) and help me note some of the key differentiators in their product’s makeup. Of course, we tried every product (that’s the fun part).

After you’re gray masked and sparkling clean, these are our notes on the Blu Atlas collection and what stands out to us as surefire wins for your skin.

Blu Atlas Atlantis Cologne

Blu Atlas Cologne Atlantis

  • Okay, let’s start with a first home run – Atlantis, Blu Atlas’ signature cologne, is stunning. Evocative of adventure, the fragrance is inspired by the experience of Bali’s shoreline, with layered tones of bergamot, lemon, violet and musk. In short, the scent is light but has some pretty incredible depth, harnessing the power of floral notes without relying heavily on them.
  • If the smell doesn’t draw you in right away, the elegant packaging certainly does for you. Packaged in a matte black bottle and presented in its own openable box, it’s sure to be a focal point on your top shelf.

Blu Atlas shower gel

Blu Atlas shampoo, conditioner and shower gel

  • Blu Atlas attempt at a body wash is all I’m looking for – a nice lather, a light scent and nothing too overpowering, with a light sugar scrub on top.
  • A standout universal ingredient in Blu Atlas body wash is green tea, which is rich in antioxidants and is what green tea is known for in skincare it is Ability to heal redness. Aloe, another star, also helps moisturize and provide antioxidants.
  • This product covers almost everything that the other products are not designed for. This supports healthy looking skin not only on the face but all over the body!

Blu Atlas Shampoo and Conditioner

  • No body wash without shampoo and conditioner. These two complete the shower trifecta, united with a scent profile and naturally-derived ingredients that work seamlessly together.
  • The jojoba oil (the main ingredient) in the shampoo provides amazing nutrients, aloe helps soften hair and saw palmetto helps thicken your hair. In short, the job of the shampoo is to add volume and moisture to your hair.
  • Blu Atlas has the help of Argan Oil (used to shine and smooth hair), White Tea (to moisturize and condition the scalp) and Barley Protein (rich in protein that leaves hair shiny and soft to the touch) used in the rinse. Overall, the combination is anti-inflammatory and supports scalp health!

Blu Atlas deodorant

Blu Atlas deodorant

  • Deodorant can be hit or miss, especially when it comes to one that uses natural ingredients as opposed to what you might be used to from the deodorant aisle. This one is good – from application to the end of the day I found the Blu Atlas deodorant to get me through everything I threw at it.
  • It is formulated with volcanic ash which is very absorbent. That’s a win for deodorant! Another interesting ingredient in Blu Atlas deodorant is horsetail extract – with anti-inflammatory properties, it soothes and soothes skin irritation.

Blu Atlas eye pencil

Blu Atlas eye pencil

  • The Blu Atlas Eye Stick is a really cool product that I (and maybe you) probably wouldn’t have considered before. This lip balm-shaped tube brightens, reduces puffiness and protects against free radicals. There is a nice cooling effect when applied with the metal ball and the product comes with no real noticeable odor for easy application. I have to protect those eyes!
  • A well-rounded product in terms of ingredients. It’s just packed with good stuff, like rose water that helps reduce puffiness.

Blu Atlas aftershave and shaving cream

Blu Atlas aftershave and shaving cream

  • I’m a guy with a big beard, so I rarely find a use for shaving cream and aftershave, but these Blu Atlas options have a refreshing and soothing scent that doesn’t resemble the aftershaves of the past.
  • The big selling point of shaving cream is the ingredients, which put the spotlight on powerful antioxidants – they moisturize your skin before shaving and protect the skin’s barrier functions.
  • On the aftershave front, it’s loaded with ingredients to hydrate and soothe skin — again, we see rose petal water here to help heal wounds (think razor burn or bumps).

Blu Atlas facial moisturizer

  • Blu Atlas has another top mark in the round product category. The Face Moisturizer is beautifully thick and quickly melts into the skin, leaving a smooth and nourished face with a minimal fragrance profile. Plenty to keep you hydrated and hydrated, but also contains ingredients that benefit your skin for more than just hydration.
  • It’s all about the vitamins here! Vitamins E, C and A are all well represented in the face moisturizer and work hard to support a healthy skin barrier.

Blu Atlas facial cleanser

Blu Atlas Volcanic Ash Facial Cleanser

  • Volcanic Ash, a key ingredient in Blu Atlas’ facial cleanser, is excellent at absorbing excess oil while providing a moisturizing and soothing effect. This is definitely a winning combo for a daily face wash!
  • The cleanser has an earthy, natural scent, feels good upon application, and leaves skin feeling clean without being stale.
  • Pomegranate seed oil, another active ingredient, is an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and has anti-aging properties (but no, you can’t turn back time).

Blu Atlas Exfoliating Scrub

Blu Atlas Exfoliating Face Scrub

  • Okay, everyone has used a bad scrub in their life, and there’s no shame in admitting it. Blu Atlas uses walnut shell powder, a much better alternative to micropearls (which can damage skin, are better for the environment, and are an effective exfoliator). This part is important – the scrub helps remove buildup on the skin, allowing for better product penetration for all other products on offer, making them more effective.
  • Bamboo is a nice addition to the ingredient list—it’s antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory, and it’s soothing for inflamed or irritated skin (so great for acne-prone or easily irritated skin!). Hibiscus also brings a nice smell and adds a rich creaminess to the formulation.

Blue Atlas face mask

Blue Atlas face mask

  • Alright guys, we love a face mask. You can’t deny it This is the real deal. Our skin felt soft and smooth without feeling tight like cheap supermarket masks tend to do. I’ve been hesitant to use face masks in the past purely because of their silly color, but that sick matte black color dries to an even cooler gray.
  • In terms of ingredients, clay and charcoal are powerful players to draw out and dry out blemishes, while goji berry helps to nourish skin and promote an even skin tone.

Blu Atlas Vitamin C Serum

Blu Atlas Vitamin C Serum

  • I hate picking favourites, but we saved the best for last. This vitamin C serum received the strongest “if you don’t use it, I will” reaction. The Vitamin C Serum helps neutralize free radicals on the skin (which cause skin damage and premature aging) through the use of four active ingredients, all of which are in the top 4 of the product.
  • The serum is easy to use in dropper bottles to avoid bacterial contamination of hands or face and absorbs really well into the skin without feeling oily. The soft The citrus smell right out of the bottle is really pleasant but fades quickly to allow your other scents to shine brighter.

Final Thoughts on the Blu Atlas System

In short, the team here agrees that Blu Atlas is indeed an incredibly thoughtfully curated brand, and we applaud their efforts to a) source most ingredients naturally and b) use all ingredients intentionally. According to our research, there really isn’t anything in it that doesn’t directly benefit the skin.

Another big win across the board for Blu Atlas – most of the active ingredients are fairly high up on the ingredients list, meaning they are the top ingredients in the product. In short – you are not paying for a vitamin C serum where the vitamin C itself is the last ingredient on the list.

I think the biggest win for Blu Atlas picks up on the earlier discussion about efficiency — if you’re willing to put in the time, you can make your routine as simple or complex as you like, based on your preferences and specific skincare needs. In this house, the facial cleanser, vitamin C serum, and facial moisturizer make up the core list, providing a foundation to build on beyond. This is a concise, easy-to-navigate line with options to improve your game if you wish.

Additionally, our little research project here can confirm that this is a great skincare line, and not just for men. Convince yourself of the Blu Atlas products. Next time we will order twice!
