Black Friday Meta Quest, HTC Vive, Valve Index, HP Reverb deals

There are four big hitters in the VR headset space, each with their own characteristics and unique selling point. If you’re just getting started with VR gaming, the Meta Quest 2 and Vive Cosmos headsets come in at £400/$400 and are easy to set up and start enjoying VR. Apart from these two, the HP Reverb costs £600 / $600 and has a better screen and better sound thanks to some great speakers that sit close to your ears.

The best places to buy VR headsets are directly from the manufacturer’s website, which is sometimes the only place to buy for Vive headsets: Reverb and Valve Index. They are going on sale though, so hopefully we’ll see some discounts during Black Friday. For Meta Quest buyers, the headset is widely available at Currys, Argos and Amazon in the UK, and Best Buy and Amazon in the US, so should see some discounts too. Here’s where to buy a VR headset:

Black Friday VR Game Deals

There are plenty of excellent VR games out there right now, with hugely popular RPGs like Skyrim and Fallout 4 now having VR versions, as well as games made for VR like Half-Life Alyx, which is a borderline masterpiece. There are also VR must-haves, specifically Beat Saber, which is almost a right of passage for VR games. In the US and UK, Humble is a great place to get VR games for less, and hopefully there will be some more big discounts on VR games this Black Friday weekend.

We will continue to update this page Jelly Deals Twitter as we learn about other VR events during the Black Friday weekend. If you’re still sticking with standard consoles, we’ve got guides to get you ready for the best Xbox Black Friday deals, PS5 Black Friday deals, and Nintendo Switch Black Friday deals.

Do you need a console or PC to use a VR headset?

No longer! Older VR headsets had to be connected to a PC or console to work and run games, and often required base stations to help with tracking. However, many headsets are now completely wireless and don’t need to be plugged into anything. Meta Quest 2, Steam Deck, HP Reverb, and most Vive headsets do not need to be connected to a PC or console, and docking stations are optional, but some headsets have the option of docking stations to improve tracking.

Will retailers be offering any Oculus Black Friday deals?

Meta (formerly Facebook) has rebranded its line of Oculus headsets to Meta Quest, so you’ll be looking for Meta Quest 2 deals from retailers this Black Friday weekend. We’re hoping that several of the retailers we’ve listed in the article above will have Meta deals this Black Friday Quest. There weren’t any last year, instead retailers were offering £50/$50 gift cards with a Quest purchase, but now the price of Meta Quest 2 has gone up and we could see some discounts this Black Friday.

How much are VR headsets during Black Friday?

This will depend on what headset you want to get. The Meta Quest 2 and Vive Cosmos headsets start at £400/$400, so if they see a £100/$100 discount, you can get into VR for as little as £300/$300. Otherwise, you could be paying almost £1,400/$1,400 for a professional VR headset with base stations and added accessories. Last year the Vive pro Full set dropped to $900, so good Black Friday deals could bring similar options down to around £1,000/$1,000.
