Economic warning signs are rising in California – foreshadowing potentially difficult budget decisions for state officials and policymakers who emerge victorious from the Nov. 8 election.

One particularly surprising statistic: Only nine Golden State-based companies went public in the first three quarters of 2022, compared with 81 in the same period last year, according to an analysis by Bloomberg News.
